Some might find my stylized Dream Catchers disturbing. However; lest we forget, the purpose of a dream catcher is to lay in wait for nightmares. And catch them unawares. Company policy sez: Let the good dreams go thru.
Most folks seem to associate the origin of the DreamCatcher with the Ojibwe or Chippewa tribe
If you study dream catcher myths and legends you will actually find some that say that the web is fashioned after an ancient spider who gave a gift to mankind when the world was young. Some of these legends say that good dreams stick in the web and stay in your life while bad dreams go through the hole and trouble you no more.
If you see a feather on a dreamcatcher it is probably for a child. Since a child's breath can stir a feather it may have been used as a kind of mobile to keep the child entertained. In addition, breath is life, so stirring the feather with one's breath passes on this valuable lesson about the breath of life.

I always thought that the bad dreams got caught and the good dreams went through. Either way, dream catchers are cool.
BevsPaper I with you but I did find some sources that turned what we were told about Dream Catchers on it's head. Sometimes the contrarians are the interesting ones. Even if they are not right!
